Lincolnshire pilot wins European Freestyle Aerobatic Championship
A Lincolnshire air display pilot has become the first ever Brit to win gold in an international unlimited aerobatics competition.
Gerald Cooper, managing director of Wickenby Aerodrome, clinched the medal at the European Freestyle Aerobatic Championship in Slovakia.

Competing in the high-performance XtremeAir XA41 monoplane, the pilot stunned the judges with his spectacular displays.
The event took place on Friday, September 7 and Saturday, September 8.

Mr Cooper, who has been the British number one for the past three years and is currently ranked seventh in the world, was competing at the unlimited level.
He said: "For me, this award is recognition of all the hard work on engineering, management and development by the fantastic team we have here at One Sky Aviation at Wickenby Aerodrome without whom competing, and winning, would not be possible."
The daredevil is a regular performer at air shows across the continent. He also appears in TV documentaries and on the Sky Sports channel.
In his spare time Mr Cooper coaches the British Advanced Aerobatic Team and provides training for individual pilots.
He is also a partner of One Sky Aviation, an engineering business providing aircraft maintenance as well as the manufacture of Thruster microlights.
