Lincolnshire's Gelder Group building 12 eco-friendly homes for the elderly

A Lincolnshire firm is building 12 eco homes for elderly people in need of social housing.

Green sedum roofs and solar panels will be installed in the energy-efficient apartments, constructed by Gelder Group, which is based in Sturton-by-Stow.

The £1.3 million project, for St Leonard's Hospital Trust – a housing charity for the elderly – will provide accommodation for people who require, but may not qualify for, social housing.

Men aged over 65 and women aged over 60 will be able to live in the properties, in Newark.

The homes are being built in the town centre in Mount Lane, adjacent to Mount Primary School and the Morrisons supermarket. They will take 28 weeks to build.
