Lincolnshire watercourses on flood alert

The Environment Agency has this morning  issued flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible, for Lincoln watercourses at the River Witham,  Sincil Dyke, Great Gowts Drain, Fossdyke Canal, Boultham Drain and Brayford Pool.

Alerts are also in place at the Fossdyke canal from Torksey Lock to Lincoln and the River Till. Tributaries may also affect Saxilby, Harby, Wigsley, and Skellingthorpe

  1. Flood

    A flood alert has been issued for the River Witham

And minor watercourse in North Kesteven are affected at Heighington, Dunston, Blankney Becks, Billinghay Skirth and River Slea. Tributaries may also affect Dunston, Scopwick, Digby, Ruskington, South Kyme, Sleaford, Ancaster, Wilsford, and Kelby.

    “If land owners and Councils took more responsibility for clearing dykes the excess water would have somewhere to flow but with them all clogged with undergrowth and rubbish the dykes are dry and the roads,surrounding land and rivers are overflowing causing floods.”
