The Highways Agency has diverted all traffic via the A52 to Bingham and A46 to rejoin the A1 at Newark and the reverse in the oposite direction.

Police are asking motorists to seek alternative routes where possible as despite the diversion, heavy congestion is causing long delays.

No-one was injured in the incident.
