Love Lincoln? Become a city ambassador
Lincoln residents are being offered the chance to show off their local knowledge by becoming ambassadors who will promote the city.
The Lincoln Business Improvement Group (BIG) is looking for people who are passionate about their home city to take part in the Lincoln Ambassadors Scheme.
The voluntary positions will involve promoting Lincoln's vitality and civic pride by representing the city at events and in numerous unusual ways.
Successful applicants will get the chance to go behind the scenes at the city's best-known attractions and events, and the role is flexible, with some volunteers committing a day a week and others only working once a month.
Lincoln BIG's search will see them look for 'market makers', who will help out at Lincoln's famous Christmas market, stewards who will supervise a range of events, information assistants to work at the city's visitor centre and on a mobile basis in the city centre, 'meeter greeters', who will be positioned at strategic gateways to Lincoln, and warden helpers.
“Ambassadors will be encouraged to take on a variety of wide-ranging roles, so
there is bound to be something to suit different tastes and to fit in with the amount of time that people have to spare,” said BIG chief executive Matt Corrigan.
“We hope to create a pool of enthusiastic volunteers, who have good local
knowledge, a desire to help others and a real passion to share their love of Lincoln
with visitors,” he added.
“In return for their participation, Lincoln BIG can offer relevant training and paid
expenses. This is a great way for individuals to get out and meet new people and
gain a real sense of achievement in making a difference and improving the
visitor experience in Lincoln.”
Potential volunteers can find out more by going to the
Lincoln Ambassadors Scheme launch, which takes place on Friday, September 20
in City Square between 11am and 3pm.
