AN innovative scheme is soon to be launched in Spilsby to encourage people to visit the market town.

Love Shopping? Love Spilsby! is a new loyalty scheme which allows individual businesses to offer shoppers their own discounts or promotions, which can be changed on a regular basis.

The scheme is the brainchild of the Spilsby Business Partnership who are trying to encourage more people to visit the town and shop in the many unique businesses it has to offer.

The partnership believe the idea is unique in Lincolnshire because it covers a number of businesses across the town, not just a particular shop.

Those signing up to the scheme will receive a membership pack containing a loyalty card and bag. This will entitle them to receive promotional offers in participating shops when they produce either item.

Businesses taking part will display Love Spilsby posters detailing promotions in their windows.

Sue Clarke from The Greenhouse explained: "The idea is to encourage people from Spilsby to shop locally and also to bring in people from outside to the town to revive and rejuvenate it.

"It will have a knock on effect not just for businesses but hopefully also encourage people to come and enjoy our heritage. Its about promoting what we have to offer to other areas, letting people know there is free parking available and that the town offers everything you need."

The first loyalty scheme packs will be on offer at the town's annual Cracker Day on December 5, when members of the partnership will run a stall in the Franklin Hall.

The scheme is free to join and all members will receive a Love Spilsby loyalty card to carry round with them. In addition a Love Spilsby bag can be purchased at a special promotional price of £3.50 throughout December and £5 thereafter.

Tony Bailey from Fred's Clothing explained: "We hope people will use the bag when visiting other towns, therefore promoting the scheme and drawing attention to Spilsby from across the county."

Scheme members can sign up to receive email alerts about the latest promotions being offered.

Businesses taking in the scheme will be advertised on the special www.lovespilsby.co.uk website along with all their special offers. A full list will be available on Cracker Day.
