MP hits streets with pastors
TAKING a break from his day job, MP for Lincoln Karl McCartney spent an evening supporting the city's Street Pastors as they offered help and assistance to revellers throughout the night.
The Street Pastors hit the streets every Friday and Saturday night to help those in need by dispensing hot beverages to those living on the streets, as well as offering support to those who may have enjoyed their night out too much.
Following the evening, Mr McCartney said: "It was a real pleasure to accompany Lincoln's Street Pastors and share in the team's passion for the superb work they do.
"With a helpful smile, shoulder of support, or sympathetic ear, they play a vital role in the city and it was heartening to see the support they offered was well received.
"Unfortunately, I also saw some of the unwarranted abuse that they received from a tiny minority, who were keen to express their ignorance of the valuable service the Street Pastors provide."
