Man fined £75 at Skegness court for dropping cigarette in street

A CLEAR message has been sent out against littering in East Lindsey.

Officers from East Lindsey District Council issued a £75 Fixed Penalty Notice to Dean Eyre of Carlton Road, Manby, after he was seen throwing a cigarette end from his car window.

    Eyre pleaded not guilty to the offence, which was heard at Skegness Magistrates Court

Eyre, who chose not to pay, pleaded not guilty to the offence, which was heard before Skegness Magistrates Court.

Although Eyre chose not to attend court, the case was heard in his absence and he was found guilty. A £75 fine was issued and Eyre was ordered to pay £200 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Portfolio holder for the environment at ELDC, Councillor Tony Bridges, said: "Littering is totally unacceptable and this prosecution should be a warning to others.

"The district council is working hard to catch those people who discard their waste irresponsibly costing council taxpayers a considerable amount of money each year."
