Man dies after being hit by train in Eastville, Lincolnshire

A man has been pronounced dead at the scene after being hit by a train in Lincolnshire.

UPDATE 6.30pm: The line and level crossing have been re-opened but emergency services remain on site.

Trains are now able to run between Boston and Skegness but there may be some knock-on delays.

The level crossing at Station Road, Eastville is currently closed.

British Transport Police were alerted to the incident at 4.45pm and it is being treated as non-suspicious.

It involved the 14.45 service from Nottingham to Skegness.

Emergency services are on the scene.

Delays are to be expected to rail services in the area as trains are held or cancelled while the emergency services are on the scene.

East Midlands Trains services are running between Nottingham and Boston, however buses are currently replacing trains between Boston and Skegness, with journey times extended by up to 45 minutes.

An East Midlands Trains spokesperson said: "Our immediate thoughts are for the family of the person involved.

"We are working hard to return services to normal as quickly as possible and would like to apologise to customers for the disruption to their services."

It is unclear how long the crossing will remain closed.
