Market Rasen & Louth strike back against West Bridgford
An under-strength Market Rasen & Louth delivered the perfect riposte to losing their lengthy unbeaten home league record by demolishing West Bridgford, 52-0.
A phenomenal two-and-a-half season spell of unbroken success at Willingham Road was smashed last week when Spalding completed a Midlands Two East (North) double over the Red & Greens, winning 20-16.
But, despite missing several players through injury and absence, Simon Green's charges romped to a comprehensive victory against the division's basement boys.
Tries from Matt Neesham, Pete Everton (two), Dean Hutchinson (two), Paul Cook, James Bemrose and Ernie Thompson plus two conversions from Cook and one from Nick John helped Rasen retain second spot.
"We scored points consistently through the game and I'm pleased that we maintained a level of performance," said Green.
"The team and myself were disappointed to lose last week but it's a learning curve in terms of being in control of the ball, and playing different patterns in different parts of the game.
"We need to control the pace of the ball and boss the game more because sometimes other sides like to play a fast and loose game. Some of them play lots of 'chaos rugby'.
"Last week Spalding changed the game and we did not adapt quickly enough. But we added a couple of things in training last week to counteract that, although it will take time."
