Market Rasen bids to become Portas Pilot town
Market Rasen is to bid to become a Portas Pilot town.
The decision to go for a slice of a £1 million regeneration pot to be shared among 12 towns across the country was made last week at a meeting of the Market Rasen Business Improvement Group (MR BIG).
MR BIG promised action after a last call to businesses to join the group - and has kept it's word by starting filming in Queen Street for a YouTube video to be submitted with the bid by March 30.
Last month, Secretary of State Eric Pickles backed any bid Market Rasen may make in an article on Market Rasen People.

At his request, ChrisTurner, spokesman for Local Growth and Regeneration, suggested the Portas Pilot scheme as a way to help the town's struggling shops.
Mr Turner suggested Market Rasen went for a share of the £1 million - which could be worth up to £100,000 to the town.
He offered encouragement to residents and said: "As you will be aware, Mary Portas was asked by the Prime Minister to conduct an independent review into the future of the high street. Her report was presented to the Government in December last year and it contained a number of recommendations.
"At the heart of her report, she wants the management of high streets to match the best out-of-town shopping centres. This would involve local authorities, business and local people working together and her recommendations are about making this easier.
"The formation of your Community Plan group is the type of idea Ms Portas refers to in her report."
The bid is just one of the initiates MR BIG is taking to help promote the town and turn its fortunes around. Filing for a video that has to be uploaded to YouTube by March 30 started last week. You can read the full details about the bid on the MR BIG blog at this link.
