Anyone can put forward their mum – or someone else who they think is a very special mother who deserves a treat.

"We're on the lookout for the area's top mum in time for Mother's Day on Sunday, March 10," said Marshall's Yard assistant centre manager Alison Hall.

"We want to hear why each mum deserves an extra special treat this Mother's Day.

"All you need to do is tell us why you think your mum – or a very special lady you know of – deserves to win.

"Once we've decided on the lucky winner, the team at the centre will arrange everything else. Basically, we want to hear from children of all ages about their mums.

"Friends and colleagues can also nominate someone they think is a really deserving person."

Grandmother Glennis Osinski, one of the creative ladies at The Florist in Marshall's Yard, is excited about being involved.

"I think it's a lovely idea and we'll be making sure our floral contribution is special," she said. "We can't say yet exactly what we will put together but it will either be a bouquet or a display.

"And Sunday, March 10, will certainly be our busiest day of the year.

"We already have quite a few orders and we'll be open and delivering to mums and grandmothers all day."

The competition is now open and the winner will be announced after the closing date next Wednesday, March 6, at 12pm.
