Maternity services in Lincolnshire hospitals get top marks in national assessment
MATERNITY services in Lincolnshire's hospitals have achieved 100 per cent compliance in a national assessment.
The service was recently assessed on its compliance with the clinical risk management standards as part of the NHS Litigation Authority's Clinical Negligence Scheme for Trusts (CNST).

This looks at ensuring hospitals have robust policies and processes in place to ensure the safety of women and their babies and to identify any potential risks in the maternity service.
Under the level 1 of the CNST assessment, organisations are assessed on the following areas, organisation, clinical care, high risk conditions, communication and postnatal and newborn care.

In each area, United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust's maternity service was assessed against 10 criteria and assessors determined that it was compliant in all areas - achieving compliance in 50 out of 50 policy areas assessed.
The report by the NHS Litigation Authority states: "United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust is to be congratulated on maintaining compliance at Level 1 against the CNST maternity clinical risk management standards 2012-13, scoring 50 -50.
"The guidelines and approved documents submitted as evidence at the assessment were of a high standard, and the evidence template had been accurately completed enabling the assessment to be completed in one day."
Director of Nursing, Eiri Jones said "I am delighted that the work undertaken by this very committed team has been recognised in this way by the NHSLA inspectors. ULHT is committed to providing high quality care for all patients and we are extremely fortunate to have such an enthusiastic maternity service. We look forward to achieving level 2 which is currently in the planning stage."
