Mayor of Louth greets Olympic Torch Relay... dressed as a sausage
The Olympic torch had a sizzling welcome in Louth - from the Mayor dressed as a Lincolnshire sausage.
Jill Makinson-Sanders arrived among the crowds before 7am, in spite of speculation about where she would do it.

A firm supporter of the campaign to get protected status for the Lincolnshire sausage, she said: "I'm here as a member of the community - not the Mayor.
"Today is Louth Sausage Day. Louth welcomes the Olympic Torch and is proud to announce that the day will also be a celebration of sausages.

“No harm, no foul. I still say well done & great publicity. Sounds like sour grapes to me from silly people with too much time on their hands.”

“Today friday, her actions were discussed twice on Chris Tarrant's afternoon show on radio 2 which attracts about 8 million listeners, she should be congratulated for having a bit of guile to gain so much publicity for her town, good on her.”

“I reckon Jill is gonna get a 'basting' for ths one...
Has to be said there was a fantastic atmosphere in Louth this morning, and i can't say the sausage added or detracted from that. I love a traditional Lincolnshire sausage and sort of appreciate the Mayor attempting to champion the cause. That said, award winning sausages are produced across the county and I dont think it helped that she appeared to have borrowed a costume from Walls.
I really did think it was a bit of harmless fun that the town had got away with, until she was interviewed live on calendar having travelled to Lincoln... #slightlyembarrassing”
