Memory sees minibus back on the streets
A CHILDHOOD memory has led to a community minibus being bought for use in the Sleaford area.
Two years ago Andrew Crawford, then chairman of Sleaford and District Round Table, told fellow members: "When I was a boy I remember Sleaford having a community minibus, run by The Sleaford and District Lions Club.

"In my year as chairman I want to do something different. Rather than nominate a single charity for which to raise money, I want to see if we could bring back the Sleaford Community Minibus".
Fundraising started and two years later Mr Crawford's dream was realised.

Fundraising efforts included running casino nights, an annual ball and the first Sleaford Oktoberfest in 2011.
Sponsorship also came from Sleaford Specsavers which allowed the group to buy a newer vehicle than they first thought.
James Coleman, store director of Specsavers, said: "I am delighted to be able to support the efforts of Sleaford and District Round Table in this impressive venture.
"To see the minibus being driven round town, helping the lives of others, gives me a great sense of pride."
The minibus will be run by Sleaford and District Round Table as a non-profit venture and will be available for use by local clubs, groups and organisations which could not afford to hire one from national hire companies.
Current Round Table chairman Neil Freeman said: "We want the vehicle to be accessible to as many local schools, groups and clubs as possible.
"We cover insurance and maintenance so all they need to cover is hire and fuel.
"It's really that simple".
Any groups or organisations interested in hiring the minibus, or finding out more, can contact Neil Freeman 01529 488965 or email Minibus@SleafordRoundTable.co.uk.
