Officers concentrated on rural routes and carried out checks of motor vehicles laden with scrap metal.
Results showed one positive breath test that led to an arrest for excess alcohol and three vehicles identified for waste carrier certificate breaches.
More than 20 registered scrap dealers were visited by police. One arrest was made and a stolen vehicle was recovered.
One scrap dealer is now subject to further joint investigation by the police and licensing officers.
