PEOPLE in Sleaford are being given the chance to get fit Army style.

Run from Boston Road Park in the town, British Forces Fitness (BFF) is the brainchild of RAF Digby-based physical training instructor Dale Jacques.

The group offers people of all ages and abilities the chance to get fit using methods employed by the Armed Forces.

Dale, who joined the Army aged 17 in 2003, told the Target the idea for BFF came after he began helping his wife Lisa get back into shape following the birth of their first child.

He said: "We started training together using military equipment in a military fashion.

"Soon we were the talk of the camp as people saw us running up and down the sports pitches with various pieces of equipment in tow.

"Many of my wife's friends wanted to do the same after giving birth and they joined in.

"Before I knew it, I had my very own squad of Army wives wanting to get fit and lose weight."

Soon some of the women's husbands began training with the group and the classes quickly expanded, with Dale continuing the initiative when he was posted to RAF Digby.

He said: "This was when I decided to start British Forces Fitness. After doing some research, I realised there is nothing in the area that can provide an affordable yet professional personal training service.

"Myself and fellow soldier Chris Kirby decided to set up our own limited company.

"Our lessons are open to anyone over the age of 16. The aim of British Forces Fitness is to show the local community fitness can be fun and demonstrate the importance of having a healthy lifestyle.

"We also wanted to raise military awareness within the community by providing a service for the local population.

"British Forces Fitness provides military-style circuit training for civilians.

"Our outdoor circuit training sessions are structured around our clients' fitness ability levels, the instructors are all serving Army and RAF trainers.

"They ensure everyone participates and no one is made to feel left out.

"The instructors will motivate and encourage you, but above all make the training session fun.

"Typically, the hour-long lessons consist of a ten-minute warm-up, two 20-minute circuits and a ten-minute cool down and stretch off.

"We use a variety of equipment ranging from medicine balls to tractor tyres.

"Each lesson is specifically designed with our clients' ability levels in mind. We pride ourselves on our balanced approach achieving real results in the real world.

"Above all we guarantee you will leave feeling you have put in 100 per cent of your body's capability, whatever your fitness level."
