Last-gasp winner for Moorlands Railway seals treble
Lincoln Moorlands Railway have capped off a historic season by winning the treble after adding the Andrew Bandelow Memorial League Cup to their Lincolnshire Intermediate Football League Premier Division crown and County Cup success.
The Moors clinched a 3-2 win over Lincoln United thanks to a last-gasp winner from Chris Ella and became the first team from Lincoln to achieve such a feat
United had opened the scoring on 24 minutes through Tom Cass.
Moorlands had good opportunities to get back in game, but their chances went begging.
In the second half both teams pressed to get the goal which would seal victory for their team.
On 51 minutes, Sam Scothern in the United goal pulled off a good save from Ella to prevent Moorlands Railway drawing level.
However, the equaliser came on 62 minutes when Daniel Cunningham made no mistake as his close-range header nestled in the corner of the net.
Within five minutes Moorlands Railway had increased their lead as a good run and shot by Ella evaded Scothern to open up a 2-1 advantage.
United equalised on 81 minutes through Ally Moss.
This looked like the situation for the game to go into extra-time but with the clock showing 88 minutes Ella got the clinching goal for Moorlands Railway.
At the conclusion of the game the trophies were presented by Andrew Bandelow's mother and father as a tribute to the work carried out until his untimely death last year.

“the moorlands photo does not appear to be the correct one of the team that won the cup on may 14th”
