A much-loved nativity will be making its last appearance at Lincoln Castle this year due to the site's upcoming building works.

Since 1999, The Journey, a travelling nativity company, has held festive performances in the castle grounds, which are aimed at both adults and children.

But this year will be the last chance to see the shows in the castle grounds due to the Lincoln Castle Revealed project, which is set to transform the castle in time for Magna Carta's 800th anniversary in 2015.

Ali Cormack, organiser, producer and director of The Journey, said: "The castle staff have been fantastic and are really keen to have us back in 2015, but because of the redevelopment, a performance like ours just isn't possible.

"We're really sad about it but we've had to make the decision.

"Now, we're looking to relocate to a new venue and we're exploring possibilities."

This year's The Journey nativity will take place from Friday, December 14, until Monday, December 17, with two performances on each night – one at 6pm and one at 8pm.

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £4 for children, and are available from Goodies of Lincoln, in the Strait.

Anyone with any information about any available venues for next year's performances should call Ms Cormack on 01522 754223.
