Netball team go top of division one
Horncastle Belles U19s took top spot in Division One of the Lincoln Senior Netball League with a hard fought 22 – 20 victory over Red Devils.
Player of the match for Belles was Camilla Comben.
In Division two, Belles U16s felt they had been robbed after an ill-tempered match against Gainsborough Pythons, in which a number of controversial decisions went against them.
They included a twice retaken penalty after the final whistle which had snatched away the points.
Player of the match for Belles U16s was Lauren Skayman, who was in inspirational form.
In the Lincolnshire Junior League, Belles U14A, despite missing three key players, handed out a 36-7 drubbing to a spirited Boston side.
Boston never gave up the ghost and who were cheered on enthusiastically by a loyal band of supporters backed their team throughout.
Player of the match for Belles was stand-in Centre, Cody O'Sullivan, who, despite protesting that she could not play the position, was the linchpin of the team's success nonetheless.
Belles U14B, essentially an U13 team, are in fine form, and were unlucky to lose 22-18 to Sleaford U14A, having surprised Sleaford by taking an early lead and keeping in front for the first three quarters of the match.
Player of the match for Belles was Ellen Massey (GA).
Later that same morning, Belles U14B's dogged style of play and state of the art circle attack was rewarded with a deserved 21-16 victory over Lincoln City U14A.
Player of the match for Belles was Olympia Agorini (C). Belles U14C were outgunned 18-5 by a strong Brigg and District U14B.
Player of the match for Belles was Abigail Burn.
In the U12 league, Belles U12A, after a shaky start to the year, are beginning to regain some of last season's outstanding form, consolidating last week's 11-3 victory over Grantham Fenland with a 15-3 win against Boston.
