New Lincolnshire county councillor vows to oppose police custody suite plans
The new county councillor for two Lincolnshire villages has vowed to fight against a new police custody suite.
Conservative Jackie Brockway powered to victory in the Nettleham and Saxilby by-election and will now take her seat on Lincolnshire County Council.

The 57-year-old claimed 43 per cent of the vote – receiving 1,026 of the 2,378 votes.
Liberal Democrat, Charles Shaw, finished a distant second with 600 votes.

Howard Thompson (266) helped the UK Independence Party to a memorable night by pipping Labour's Richard Coupland (257) to third.
Lincolnshire Independent David Watson finished fifth with 196 votes. English Democrat Elliott Fountain was last with 21 votes.
The overall turnout was 28 per cent.
Councillor Brockway's win sees the Tories tighten their grip at County Hall – holding 60 of the 77 seats.
The election comes as residents in Nettleham battle against the possibility of a new custody unit being built at Lincolnshire Police HQ, in Deepdale Lane. The force is yet to confirm it wants to build at the site and it is unlikely a decision will be made until the new Policing and Crime Commissioner is elected in November.
Councillor Brockway told the Echo: "The police custody suite is a hugely contentious issue in Nettleham and this is what I will begin by focussing much of my attention on.
"The people of Nettleham don't want it in their village and I will fight hard to make sure this doesn't happen.
"I promised this is what I would do and I will."
The former school teacher added she hopes to get the opportunity to focus on education and recycling matters for the local authority.
The by-election was called following the death of former councillor Ray Sellars. Most believed the seat would remain in Liberal Democrat hands after Mr Sellars died, following a short battle with liver cancer.
Councillor Brockway added: "I am particularly passionate about Nettleham and Saxilby because of the great impact Ray Sellars had on this part of the world.
"He built an impressive legacy and I am determined to emulate that. I worked with him often and he was a lovely man and a more than efficient councillor. To have been elected as his replacement really is a huge honour."
Now, councillor Brockway has just nine months to impress her new constituents before all county council seats go to the electorate in May.
Meanwhile, Howard Thompson hailed an "incredible" night for UKIP.
"This proves we are the third biggest party in the country," he said.
"This is a huge marker for our party and we have to build on this. People are not necessarily voting just for the usual parties anymore."
David Watson said: "I am disappointed because I feel we could have done better.
"I would like to thank the residents of Nettleham and Saxilby who did vote for me."
