New Military Wives Choir at RAF Cranwell doubles in numbers and is ready to perform
AFTER forming just four months ago the Military Wives choir at Cranwell has already doubled in numbers and is ready to take to the stage.
The choir which consists of Military Wives from RAF Cranwell, RAF Digby and RAF Waddington was set up by Nicola Swann, 38, whose husband is based at Waddington.
At a rehearsal last night Mrs Swann, who is already in the community choir at Heckington, said: "I joined the choir in Heckington last year and I found that people were getting so much out of it.
"People started asking me if we had a Military Wives choir here so I looked into the official Military Wives organisation, contacted them and it went from there."

The choir started out in October with 22 members and now there are around 50 members in total and are of mixed ages.
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening at St Andrew's Church, Cranwell, and the choir is led by Daz Carter who is also the bursar at Cranwell Primary School.
Mrs Swann said: "We had to find a musical director for the choir and I knew that Daz was the director of the choir at the school in Cranwell because my children go there.
"He was only too happy to help and he gives up his spare time to come and rehearse with us. He's a great help."
The choir had their first performance at the RAF Digby Christmas fair last year and have another at Ruskington Methodist Church in April.
Mrs Swann said: "We should get about 100 people at the show in April. We'd like to have more performances lined up though."
The official Military Wives Choirs Foundation is a network of choirs that reaches across the whole military community.
It has been established to provide support, guidance and funding for individual choirs, but first and foremost to bring women closer together through singing.
