A green energy firm says it can offer Lincolnshire homes and businesses a "new breed" of wind turbines.

Eco Building Products says the technology works in lower wind speeds and is quieter than alternatives.

The business, from Market Deeping, also claims the turbines are more wildlife friendly, because their rotor system can be easily seen by bats and birds, and there is less vibration.

The WindTronics structures begin generating power in wind speeds as low as 2 mph and continue to work in winds of up to 40 mph.

They can be up to 12 metres high. A system has already been installed at Eco Building Products's own premises.

Ian Greenfield of Eco Building Products said: "We are now selling WindTronics turbines. However, as with most of what we sell, we like to gain real operating experience ourselves before offering products to customers.

"We have been delighted with the performance of the turbine which is making a real contribution to cutting our energy costs and CO2 emissions.

"It has significantly extended our range of practical renewable energy solutions.

"In addition to PV and heat pumps, we can now offer a reliable, low-cost and easily installed wind turbine system."

In high winds, to prevent the turbine from being damaged, the turbine goes into auto shut down.

The system measures 6 feet (1.8 metres) in diameter and is able to generate around 40 per cent of an average household's annual electricity needs.
