New car park charges could net £500k for Lincolnshire district council
MORE details have been revealed about proposed changes to car park charges across the district - and 13 free car parks could now become paid for.
East Lindsey District Council is undertaking a review of the car parks it runs and the changes proposed are aimed to generate £520,000 a year for the council.

ALL CHANGE? People who currently park all day at free car parks in East Lindsey, including Louth Cattle Market, could be paying £3 a day from next April if proposals are approved.
Portfolio holder for the environment, Councillor Tony Bridges, will present a report to the council's executive on Tuesday which is expected to approve the recommendations that will then be decided by the full council in January.
Cllr Bridges, said he had been challenged to build on the work of the all-party scrutiny panel to bring forward a proposal to council.

He said: "Car parking in East Lindsey is a mismatch at the moment with some real inconsistencies and that isn't acceptable. Secondly, we have made no increase in parking charges since 2008 and we absorbed the VAT increase.
"With significantly less Government funding for local services and rising costs, we need to generate more income to support services and keep council tax low for the community. The alternative is that we stop providing some services and/or increase council tax."
If the recommendations are approved, changes to the currently free car parks will cost the council £56,000 on the installation of 16 new pay and display machines – £3,500 each.
Nine car parks have been removed from the parking order changes, including the 408 space car park at Manby, the council's headquarters.
A spokesman from the council said: " This is not a public car park. It is a business car park, as many organisations provide, for staff and visitors. There has never been a charge on the car park."

Even at £3.00 a day that would generate over £1000 per working day, over £5000 per week, possibly a quarter of a million a year
As its a business park, and many businesses are charging for parking, and in Nottingham have a council surcharge for the privilege maybe the council should think about this source of income

“I think people are missing the point here, most of these car parks will have CCTV coverage, require surfacing/pot holing at some stage, line painting, HSE assessments which all cost money. £3.00 per day is not a lot of money to be fair... considering here in Lincoln you are lucky to get parked all day for less than £7.00 and Nottingham is around £12 per day. Compare those to the likes of London or Brighton where I visited at the weekend and that was £25 all day! So £3.00 to cover costs, thats not much really is it?”
