Football chiefs in Lincolnshire will be spared from thumping headaches and bad moods under new plans for the county association's new home.

Architects designing the Lincolnshire FA's proposed Nettleham headquarters believe creative use of natural light will provide an "uplifting" experience for visitors and staff.

The project could cost up to £500,000 with the facility housing seminar rooms to train referees and a bigger boardroom for official meetings.

Designers LK2 have previously developed units at the village's Deepdale Lane enterprise park, including its own base, and architect partner Dale Lui said headache tablets could be a thing of the past for FA staff.

"The building has been designed with the Lincolnshire FA having quite a bit of input," he said.

"What we have created is a new building with a light, airy look which is hopefully more uplifting when you walk through the doors.

"A lot of this comes from our own experience. We have a good understanding of how people work and environments. We did extensive studies on our building to get the carbon footprint to a level where it becomes eco–friendly.

"In most relatively new offices headache tablets are found on desks and hopefully we get away from that by using natural light."

Lincolnshire FA staff are temporarily housed in Henley Way, off Doddington Road, Lincoln, after the organisation left its previous base of more than 30 years in Dean Road, off Outer Circle Road, Lincoln.
