A new memorial to the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment is to be unveiled.

The regimental Old Comrades Association has raised £22,000 for the monument in Sobraon Park, Lincoln.

Tony Worth, the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, and Major General Porter, of The Royal Anglian Regiment, will attend the unveiling at 11.45am on October 6.

Architect Mike Credland gave his services for free.

Colonel Geoff Newmarch, chairman of the appeal, said: "Throughout the last 18 months, the support we have received from everyone has been quite overwhelming.

"There are many old comrades still living who will remember their service and training at Sobraon Barracks and are welcome to attend alongside the public and the county dignitaries."

Any old comrades who wish to take part in the parade should meet in Cambrai Road at 11.15am.
