The nursery has been set up ahead of the planned opening of a new primary school in the area next year.
Twelve jobs have been created and there is scope for up to four more staff.
Alison Wright, who started up her first nursery near Scothern ten years ago, said: "It's a really stimulating, educational and innovative environment and we provide good all-round care.
"We pride ourselves on the care we offer, as it's not just somewhere to drop off your kids for the day – we really try to enhance the children."
The nursery will be open between 7.30am and 6.30pm. Around 20 children have already been registered and around 80 people attended open days at the site.
Mrs Wright explained the need for the nursery.
"The county council identified there is a shortage of childcare provision in the area," she said.
"They put out a tender for a provider to provide the best service and so for us as a business it's a real feather in our cap.
"But it's also reassuring for parents that's been chosen by the county council and it's obviously much needed."
