Jennie Negus, deputy director of patient services, said: “We understand that for many people coming into hospital can be a difficult experience. The PALS service is designed to give people the opportunity to get assistance and share compliments, feedback and any concerns in confidence to ensure that their time in hospital is as stress-free as possible.
“We would always encourage any patient or relative with a concern or problem to speak to staff on the ward in the first instance to try and resolve the matter. However if this is not possible, this is where the PALS team can step in.”
Following a thorough and innovative recruitment process new teams have been appointed at Lincoln County Hospital, Pilgrim Hospital, Boston and Grantham and District Hospital and. The recruitment process centred on appointing for behaviours and values, with patients and carers involved in the process.
The service will be officially launched by the Director of Nursing on Friday, October 25. Patient representatives, key stakeholders and MPs have been invited to attend the event.
The new PALS services will be located near the main entrance across each site and will initially be open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, with a view to exploring the option of extending the service to include evenings and at weekends in the coming months.
