New support centre for rape victims to be opened in Lincoln
A new centre offering advice and support to rape victims is to be opened in Lincoln.
A help-line will open first followed by a new support centre which will also offer outreach services across the county.

Victims Minister Helen Grant announced that £4 million is being dedicated to helping victims of sexual assault and rape across England and Wales this year.
This will allow five new rape support centres – of which Lincoln is one - to open.

"I will not rest until more victims of sexual abuse get the help they need to put their lives back on track," she said.
"That's why, for the first time, the Government is giving organisations who do so much the long-term funding needed to put them on a more secure footing. We have set aside around £4million for this year alone.
"With one in 20 women reporting they were the victim of a serious sexual offence last year, it is so important we don't leave them to suffer in silence. That's why I'm pleased that victims in and around Lincolnshire will soon be able to more easily access this vital help." Putting existing rape support centres on a more secure financial footing and establishing up to 15 new ones was a key point in the Coalition Agreement. So far nine new centres have been built.
Lee Eggleston, Chair of Rape Crisis (England and Wales) said: "We welcome the Government's announcement to fund the development and establishment of new Rape Crisis Centres.
"It is vital that women and girls who experience sexual violence are able to receive specialised support when and where they need it in order to be able to rebuild and move forward with their lives.
"Sexual violence has devastating consequences that can last for years and even decades.
"In Lincolnshire and the four authority areas it will support, there just has not been support available to survivors or at best, they have had to travel to the next county or metropolitan area, with some journeys taking hours, in order to get the help they need.
"In 2013, every woman and girl should be able to live their life free from the fear of sexual violence.
"This is a significant day for both survivors and the Rape Crisis movement."
