New tenant housing inspectors go live in Lincoln
A group of tenants will become Lincoln's first council house inspectors, giving their honest opinions just before new residents move in.
The City of Lincoln Council is training its first batch of tenant inspectors next week.

Chris Morton, tenant liaison Officer at the council, said: "It is really important for us as a council to offer the best possible housing to our tenants.
"So by letting these inspectors go in, we can get honest opinions from people who have first hand experience of the tenancy programme themselves.

"If they spot any issues, we can send someone in to get it fixed before the new tenants move in."
Tenants from all backgrounds were invited to sign onto the scheme. The tenant inspectors will attend a two hour training session introducing them to the scheme before being invited out to homes over the coming weeks to carry out their examinations.
They will be invited to give their views on a range of areas from decorating to suitability to different types of potential tenants.

“What will they actually be doing ? At the moment vacated properties are inspected and any remedial work required is done before the new residents move in,they'd be better used if they were sent round to inspect currently inhabited propertys to find out if the tenant is looking after it.”

“waste of money i think should be concentrating on sorting out severe housing shortage and capping some of these private landlords who charge to much when they know fall well there is a housing shortage”
