The Lincoln Orienteering Group Night Score Cup series begins tonight with the first event at West Common in Lincoln.

These events are mass start, 45-minute score races which means everyone sets off at the same time and has 45 minutes to find as many controls (orange and white flags) as possible using a map.

The registration for this event will be open in the Carholme Golf course car park from 6.30pm, with the start at 7.15pm. Cost is only £3 (£2 to BO members).

All events use SI electronic devices which enables you to register at each control point using your dibber, at the finish you download your dibber giving you a print out to keep of which controls you have found and in what time.

Dibber hire is included in the cost of the event and if you have not used one before you will be given a demo to how it works.

A torch is most definatly required, along with a compass if you have one.

Full support and guidence will be given if required.

It is suitable for everyone from novice to experienced orienteers.

Competitors aged under-16 are recommended to take part with an adult accompanying them for this series.

There will be four events in total on consecutive Thursdays with the person with the best 3/4 scores being awarded the Winner of the Series.
