The Ling Moor School pupil, who like most little girls is into Barbie dolls, Hello Kitty and Dora the Explorer, said: "It took a long time to do my make-up for the photos but when I saw my picture in the newspaper I screamed and ran around the flat shouting, 'Oh my god, I must be famous'.

"I'm happy that I've been picked and modelling is a lot of fun."

Mum Hannah Hamilton, 34, a secretary, said she has already seen her daughter's feet modelling school shoes on a display board at Tesco, in Wragby Road, Lincoln.

"She's a little poser," said Miss Hamilton, of Maximus Road. "Everyone in the family is really excited about Harriet modelling.

"We applied to quite a few agencies but we rejected those that asked for a registration fee.

"We went with Cheeky Monkeys and Harriet got a casting straight afterwards.

"Then Tesco picked her out and we had two days in London for the photo shoots, which were at the Ragged School Museum and quite a posh private boys school.

"Now, Harriet is signed to an agency called Starfish which does television work as well."

Miss Hamilton added that it is important her daughter enjoys what she is doing.

"I have done beauty contests in the past but nothing like Harriet is doing now," she said.

"I asked her if she enjoys it and she says she does. I'm not pushing her into it."
