A GROUP of 28 budding young actors are among a total cast numbering 60 who are currently in the final stages of rehearsals for Boston Operatic Society's (BOS) latest production.

The group will be taking to the stage at Boston's Blackfriars Arts Centre from November 21 to 28 with performances of the musical Oliver.

Based on Charles Dickens' classic novel, the musical written by Lionel Bart has captivated audiences across the world for almost half a century and won multiple awards.

BOS' version features some of the best loved musical numbers of all time including Food, Glorious Food, I'd Do Anything and Oom-Pah-Pah which will all be performed lived by a 10-strong accompanying orchestra.

A BOS spokesman told the Target the show was "guaranteed to a be a treat for all ages."

He said: "You love the characters, you know the songs, so make sure you don't miss out on what will be a bold, big-hearted production of this firm family favourite."

The production stars Jenny Brown as Oliver Twist, George Stainfield as the Artful Dodger, Jodie Marshall as Nancy and Jon Molson as Bill Sykes.

It is directed by Richard Laight, produced by Lindy Laight and choreographed by Rachel Pick and Katy Tabor with Lynne Baker as musical director.

All performances start at 7.30pm with a matinee on November 28 at 2.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £12 with no concessions and can be booked from the box office at Blackfriars on (01205) 363108.

    “To all the people who missed the production of Oliver at Blackfriars you missed a wonderful night.The show and cast were all excellent, but i must say a special well done to Oliver ,Fagan and Nancy who were superb in there roles a truely great night
