Lincoln City have reverted to their traditional red and white stripes for the new season.

After ditching last season's predominantly red shirt, which was given a mixed reception on its unveiling, a return to a recognised design has been given a seal of approval by the players.

Adam Smith and Gary Mills both modelled the kit as it was unveiled on Monday.

It was clearly a hit with some of David Holdsworth's squad who played in it for the first time at Worksop last night.

Writing on his Twitter account, goalkeeper Paul Farman said: "Seen the kit people, looking good!"

And responding to a fan's question about opinion on the shirt, new midfielder Gary Mills said: "Yes it is nice. The boys like it."

“Black shorts make it look untidy. Red or white shorts would look far better with red or white socks”

“reminds me of the old Admiral kit, season before we got promoted to old div 2 (98-99). Think we wore yellow/blue away kit then too. Lets hope it brings the same luck. I'd bwe happy with a near miss this season and promotion next!”

“I agree with/dandman78 its two similar to passed shirts. Merchandise is very important and if people think its the same as the one they have they wont buy it and in the position we are in we need to get the valuable shirt money in! I like the new one but i also liked the last one as it was different!”

“I agree with imp88; looks good except for collar on Smith's shirt, though a bit too similar to the 'Go Car' shirt from 2010-11.

I appear to be one of the few who liked/shelled out full price for last seasons shirt. Assuming this is another one season effort, I'll wait until May & happily snap it up for a tenner, as last seasons shirts were priced this May in the club shop.

“OldLincolnia..... do you reside on this planet?

Athletic? Where's that "logic" come from? City have only ever had plain white socks once in their history. They did "flirt" with white socks and red trims. And... are you serious about red shorts? UGH! Been there, done that and got the sick bag!

I seem to remember a team who played (in the 70's) in these colours who had a 15 man squad and a few youth team players who ran riot in the old fourth division..... I wonder what colours they wore?!!

    UTI!”
