TRANSITION Town Horncastle will be painting the town green with a range of events this month.

On Friday Green Babies will be leading a nature trail at Banovallum School.

Children up to the age of 11 are invited to join the hunt for minibeasts, identifying plants and trees and taking part in nature-craft.

No booking is required for this free event and refreshments will be made available on the day.

For more information call the Children's Centre on 01507 526603.

And, as a grand finale, Transition Town Horncastle in conjunction with Horncastle Now, has organised a family chill-out day on Saturday, August 21 from 10am to 4pm.

As part of their year-long Green Babies and Toddlers energy project, where a large grant has been won for the town, the special event will help you chill out this summer and will raise money for solar panels in Mali, Africa at the same time.

There will be yoga classes for children, special craft activities, such as fabric painting their own eco-carrier bags, music and dance workshops.

On top of that, there will be fete games in the garden, face-painting, parachute games, storytelling, a wildlife walk, massage, reiki and more.

The organisers are grateful to the community centre, who are offering the venue as a contribution to the project, and to Horncastle and District Lions Club and the Friends of Horncastle and District Healthcare for subsidising the cost of this event for local children and their families.
