THE possibility of car park ticket machines that give change are to be looked into by East Lindsey District Council.

Machines in Skegness, particularly along the seafront do not give out change leading to many local businesses being asked to swap bank notes by visitors.

At a Skegness Town Council and ELDC liaison working group meeting last week the issue was put to ELDC Chief Executive Nigel Howells by councillors.

Coun George Saxon said: "Many of the pubs and kiosks near to the seafront get asked for change and in many cases if they refuse they receive verbal abuse. They have to pay for their change and machines should be looked into as we need them."

Coun Brian O'Connor added: "I would support a pay on exit idea. Pre-pay tickets remove flexibility from people, but if they pay when they leave they can wander round and may well stay longer in the resort."

In response Nigel Howells said that ELDC would undertake to look at all the options.

He said: "Personally I have never come across operators that give change, but many places have moved to pay on exit schemes. There will be capital cost implications, but also benefits. However, we will no be able to arrange anything for this season."
