Petrol scam 'Italian' con artist wanted by police
Elderly men in Lincolnshire are being targeted by an 'Italian' who operates a scam involving claims that he has run out of petrol.
And in the latest incident in the south of the county yesterday he managed to get cash off a pensioner.
Police and Neighbourhood Watch community safety officer Gill Finn has issued a warning to residents.
"We are currently seeking the whereabouts of an individual of possible Italian in appearance who is actively targeting elderly gentleman across the Lincolnshire region," she said.

"The method of working sees the person approaching elderly gentlemen and asking for petrol money.
"On the last occurrence, which happened yesterday, a gentleman was stopped by the side of the road, in the Bourne area.
"He was approached by the individual stating he had run out of petrol.
"The elderly gentleman was escorted to retrieve funds from his home address and was then handed a watch in return.
"Please report any suspicious sightings or occurrences so we are able to locate this individual as soon as possible before if he is able to continue his actions."
The suspect is said to be of 'possible Italian appearance'.
He has tanned skin, is thin-faced and has short dark hair.
The man police want to question is in his late 30s or early 40s, is smartly dressed in a dark suit and drives a hire car.
