THE Target's Nicola Elding, field sales manager for the South East Target series, presented The Boss of the Year Award on behalf of Cawsey Motors.
She told the gathering: "The Boss of the Year can come from any type of organisation – it could be commercial, it could be voluntary, it could be sports, it could be education – but this year we're looking at someone from the world of finance.
"The nomination did acknowledge that the sector is going through a very tough time at the moment with bankers coming in for some very bad press, but due to this person's efforts their company is thankfully surviving and in fact, continuing to thrive.
"On a personal level, staff say he's always smiling at work and brings in chocolates and ice lollies to make their days more bearable.
"What better qualities in a boss could you ask for?
"Professionally, our winner has been recognised in the industry by being voted on to the board of the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers.
"Locally he works hard with the Chamber of Commerce as a co-vice-president.
"He also represents the Chamber on the Sleaford BID Board, and has helped the girls from Kesteven and Sleaford High School with their Young Enterprise companies.
"With his wife Sam, our winner has 'adopted' local charities GIFTS Hospice and the new LIVES group in Heckington, helping them to raise much-needed funds.
"Last year they organised a Late Summer Ball at the Lawn in Lincoln which raised £7,758 for charity.
"But we are assured he does also find time to spend with Sam and their three children"
"Our winner's staff are very proud of him and say that he's a strong pillar not only in the Fiducia Group but also locally within our community."
In accepting his award, Marcus said: "This is a very nice surprise, thank you very much.
"I am very proud to be part of Sleaford – and we have got some fantastic businesses here."
