Plane landed by passenger returning from Skegness to Humberside Airport
A light aircraft which was landed by a passenger last night after its pilot fell ill at the controls was returning from a trip to Skegness.
The Cessna plane landed safely at Humberside Airport after the passenger, who had never flown before, followed radio directions from flying instructors.
However Humberside Police have since confirmed that the stricken pilot has died following the incident yesterday at 6:20pm.
Is is thought the private plane, which was only carrying the deceased pilot and the passenger, had taken off from Sandtoft airfield, near Doncaster, earlier in the day for a training flight to Skegness.

It was returning to Sandtoft when the pilot was taken ill, forcing the pair to divert to Humberside Airport for an emergency landing.
The plane circled the terminal before experts on the ground were able to guide the novice flyer in to land safely.
Although the Cessna grounded 'heavily' there were no further injuries to either person on board.
It is believed the passenger was even flying 'blind' as witnesses claimed the plane did not have any lights on.
