PLANS to discuss closing the toilets in Money's Yard in Sleaford have been postponed.

North Kesteven District Council's planning committee was due to meet last night to discuss the possibility of closing the toilets as part of its budget cuts and to regenerate the area.

  1. Money's Yard toilets

SAVE OUR TOILETS: A petition to stop the closure of Money's Yard toilets in Sleaford has been launched.

A council spokesman said: "The current application for the demolition of the toilets was withdrawn by the applicant in order to allow consideration of alternative schemes for restoration of the land."

Town council leader and campaigner Brian Watson, who recently launched an online petition to save the toilets, was pleased with the news and said: " I am delighted to see that this application has been deferred. I believe closing the toilets is a bad step. If we are going to revitalise Sleaford we need to keep these toilets open."

“Surely the councillors aren't seeing sense finally. To close the toilets down would make sure a lot of people wouldn't bother to visit Sleaford and maybe spend a bit of money. I still haven't managed to get on the e-petition by pressing on the link, but copy and paste worked ok.”
