The proposed footbridge design over the railway line in Brayford Wharf East, Lincoln
Phil Verster, route managing director for Network Rail said: "This application is an important milestone as we seek to reduce risk at the level crossings in Lincoln city centre. We have taken into account the feedback we received following our public event in October and feel we have developed a quality design which is in keeping with, and sympathetic to its surroundings."
Network Rail is in discussions with the owners of 179 High Street to see if this building could be redeveloped as part of the High Street footbridge design.

“The whole idea of the new road across St Marks,Tentercroft St to Broadgate is to turn the High St into a pedestrianised area.”

“All that is needed is something similar to the bridge over Melville Street but without the switchback. No need for lifts!”

“5 storeys high - really? The permanent closing of the crossing will certainly give the cyclists and pram-pushers something to chat about while they wiat for the lift - assuming that it always works. . . . .”

“If Phil Verster had spent £200k+ on a apartment in that block he wouldn't be thinking its such a milestone. Build the bridge on the High Street and then it would be a milestone.”

“Does this also mean they will close the crossing to pedestrians/cyclists forcing people to exclusively use the bridge?”

“Pedestrianise High Street from Portland Street or if not at least from Tentercroft Street with a Bridge and Lift for Disabled. Where else do they put up with such outdated nonsense?”

“I doubt if the road will stay open to traffic, personally I now avoid the high street altogether and use southpark road and pelham bridge.”

“Don't worry kevin, the railway probably won't even build these bridges unless the council agree to shut these roads to traffic permanently.”

“Neither of these two bridges will do anything to alleviate the traffic problems. The City will continue to be cut in half for the foreseeable future.”
