Seventeen-year-old Anna's play, entitled Generation Lost, will be rehearsed by a professional cast at the National Theatre and if selected as the overall winner it will be staged in the unique setting of Westminster Hall at the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday July 11.

The chosen work will also be performed at The Pop-up Workshop as part of National Theatre Inside Out on the South Bank in London on Thursday July 12 and Friday July 13.

Dr Jason Howard, Boston High School headteacher, told the Target: "Anna worked on her own initiative to produce a play that addresses a number of contemporary issues in a very powerful way.

"Students from some of the country's top schools have won through to the final so it's great to see a Boston High School student in a list that includes an Eton scholar."

Entries are now open for next year's competition and to take part log on to www.nationaltheatre.org.uk and follow the links.
