Players expected to prove their potential, says Lincoln City boss

David Holdsworth believes his dealings in the transfer market has rekindled his squad's hunger for success as he admitted his players are fighting for their futures.

The Imps boss was busy in the transfer market last month having signed four new players and letting Gavin McCallum leave the club.

The squad is almost unrecognisable from the one Holdsworth inherited when he took over from the sacked Steve Tilson back in October.

And he says his signings have all shown the right attitude which he insists will be crucial if they are to secure longer term deals with the club next season.

"The players I have signed have ambition which runs parallel with another word called hunger," he said.

"It's important players have that mentality. They have to be hungry to earn that contract which I hope they can do.

"I am sure they have that on the back of their mind because, generally, the boys who are here are on relatively small contracts compared to the players who were here when I arrived.

"They have been hungry to come here, they are hungry for success and they are hungry to improve.

"We have to acknowledge, however, these boys are working their socks off and long may it continue."

“Again I will say, look at the position forest are in at present, and the position West Ham were in last season, financially as well as being relegated. Both the above clubs regularly get crowds of25k & 37k respectively every week, now that is what I call belief in, and true support of YOUR club, so come on stop whinging get off your backsides leave the comp alone and truely support City.COME ON BOYS”

“I think we are at a turning point , we will see won't we, when a mngr brings in his 2 latest additions CFs and they both score to keep a point, give these players a chance to settle in, stay positive. Tilson and Brush were at fault. The Chairman can only go on ST past performances, which were fairly good at that time. And DH has done very well to clear out the rubbish.both playing and financially for the club.We will just have to wait and see. Stay positive SNODDYBAG , they will improve, and I for one will be delighted when they finish top half of the table, and maybe close to play-offs.to show so many of the supporters who are fair weather boys. Come on boys.”

    “Hey franky68.
When the team starts winning games the turnstiles will look after themselves.
Just for the record I have been to every home game so far. Having said that if they do not start to buck up and start winning games I will stop going through the turnstile”

“I think the question DH is really asking is not just of the boards intentions next season, he is in the main wanting to know from the doubter Lincoln city supporters? from past years what they are going to do, because as we all know without bodies through the turnstiles, apart from the recent cash injection from the so called supposed incompents at board level where will we be, in the same position as two other clubs in our Div.I also know the supporter interest of Mr Dorian over the years shows how he feels about the situation, his second injection to the club in this season, can you remember the 100K, or do you all have conveniently short memories. Leave the manager and the board alone to get on with saving the club, and just get yourselves through the turnstiles, and help with the cash flow, thats all they want, instead of continual negative criticism.

    come on boys”
