There is a wealth of free attractions available to visit in Lincolnshire this Easter weekend.

And Lincolnshire Bites Back – the Echo's recession-fighting campaign – can reveal just a few.

Chief executive for Lincolnshire Tourism, Penny Baker, said: "You could visit one of Lincolnshire's National Trust properties, get outdoors and follow the Tennyson Trail in the Wolds, enjoy seaside fun on our blue flag beaches or get hands on at animal attractions."

Free the whole year round, The Collection in Danesgate and Usher Gallery in Lindum Road, both in Lincoln, are the perfect way to while away a weekend.

Site co-ordinator for The Collection, Kerry Powell, said: "We have interactive screens and activities like making mosaics and people are often surprised by how much we offer.

"Archeology is becoming really popular with children at the moment and when they come in here there are lots of things to do as a family."

The Museum of Lincolnshire Life, in the city's Burton Road, is another free attraction, with an exploration of the county ranging from the Stone Age to Saxon times all the way up to the present day.

If you fancy travelling a bit further afield, Lincolnshire's coastal towns and cities have a lot to offer by way of cheap and free entertainment.

If the weather makes sunbathing a non-starter, visit the Church Farm Museum, near Skegness, which has a woodland walk and is holding chocolate days on Easter Sunday and Monday, which are always popular.
