Fingerprints matching those of an animal rights activist accused of taking part in a Lincolnshire farm raid were found on plastic bags containing a headtorch and overalls, a jury was told.

Lewis Pogson denies being among intruders who forced their way into a shed at the farm which had connections to the animal research company Huntingdon Life Sciences.

It is alleged activists stole 129 white rabbits after targeting Highgate Farm in Normanby by Spital, north of Lincoln.

Farmer Jeffrey Douglas suffered damage estimated at £56,000 to his Lamborghini sports car after the vehicle was covered in paint stripper and had its tyres slashed.

The prosecution allege Pogson, 23, who has links to the protest group SHAC, was one of those involved in the raid on January 7 last year.

Thomas Shepherd, a finger print officer with Lincolnshire Police, examined a number of fingerprints left on bags found in a garage at Pogson's mother's home in Dulwich, South-East London.

Giving evidence Mr Shepherd said a print matching Pogson's left forefinger was discovered on a black bin liner which contained a set of overalls.

Pogson of Bush Road, East Peckham, Kent, denies charges of blackmail, criminal damage, theft of rabbits and interfering with a contractual relationship on January 7, 2008.

The trial continues.
