Police called to wannabe models session
Police have investigated wannabe models' concerns about a casting session held in Lincoln over the weekend.
But they have decided not to bring charges.

Disappointed applicants outside the Cathedral Centre.
Lincolnshire police said they received "dozens" of calls regarding an event inviting wannabe models and extras for a free photo test shot.
But after attending the event at the Cathedral Centre, Lincoln, and speaking with event managers Elite Management, police have decided not to press charges.
Hundreds of people of all ages turned up at the session, which had to be halted half way through due to health and safety fears about over crowding.
The casting offered a free photo test, but people were also offered a £249.50 'portfolio shots' service, which left many punters disgruntled.
Inspector Andy Ham said: "I can confirm that Lincolnshire police received dozens of calls in regard to Elite Management.
"The police attended and investigated people's concerns in relation to a possible fraud.
"The persons running this company point to the paperwork they provide which includes a statement of description of how they do their business and a copy of the terms and conditions for payments.
"On this basis, Lincolnshire Police will not be taking any criminal action.
"However, we would advise members of the public to exercise extreme caution against parting with money up front before receiving a service.
"This is common sense advice for any enterprise."

“I too went and got selected and at no time was there any pressure to pay £250 for the portfolio. It was entirely your choice. After looking at the agreement regarding if you wanted the portfolio doing, it clearly stated that if no work came forward within 12 months you would get a full refund.
Elite Management is not a modelling agency, but a talent spotting company who then send it on to agents who hopefully will pick you out. All of this info was given freely when you got there and after reading this, it was then up to you if you went for it or not. So to all those moaning, why are you moaning? You get nowt for free in this country and i bet most of you who have commented have not even attended the audition.
Those who have and got selected and didnt pay any money certainly were not conned as they gave nothing away, so give them all a break and only talk about what you experienced on the day and not what you think happened.”

“I attended the event and after having my test shoot and given my free photograph, I was "selected" as they put it to be on their books as they felt they could get me work. I told them i already had a professional portfolio and they said "thats great" and asked me if i had it with me. I didn't as my decision to come was last minute. They said no worries send it over to them! There was no pressure to pay any fee's. The fee's (as stated) were for the photo's which you do need if you want to go on someone's books. I just thought i'd put my experience on here as everyone seems to be moaning that they made a conscious choice to purchase photo's for £250. My advice is get your own photo's done by a reputable company that you get recommended to by a friend and then take these photo's to lot's of different agencies. If they like you they'll have you! Simple!”

“This is one of those scams that had it been in the USA the scammers would have been looking at Jail time under the racketeering laws. We are too soft in this country, white collar crime is basically ignored, look at the bankers for example! But woe betide the man who steals a Mars bar he will soon find himself before the magistrates.”

“i did phone them and i did ask them if there were conartists .i knew it .and they did say ono we are not.you never go to someting like this . always look it up on the internet then you will find out a lot more about this.these people might have been here before a couple of years ago.if you realy want to join an model agengy then you dont pay them up front .when you already do have a porfolio then you give that to an agengy who does not want your money until they do get you a job and then they take some of the money you are getting from the job you are doing.you also have to be sure that there is a place you can go where they are so you know that it is save.those people also do not keep the same name so then you can never find them anymore and then your money is gone .”
