A 16-year-old girl was arrested yesterday morning in connection with the incident.
Police say she is still helping with their enquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector for the murder investigation team, Tony Heydon, said there would be a police presence in Baston while initial enquiries are carried out.
"Our officers will be in the area over the weekend investigating this tragic set of circumstances," he said.
"Although we are unable to release any more detail at this stage we can reassure the public that we are not looking for outstanding suspects, we are simply gathering evidence and piecing together the sequence of events over the last couple of days.
"If anyone thinks they can help our investigation I would urge them to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
