Police say reports of dogs being stolen to order in Lincolnshire are part of a hoax
Reports of dogs being stolen to order in Lincolnshire are a hoax according to Lincolnshire Police.
Rumours had been circulating that stickers were being placed on property to show what type of dog can be found there.
But police say that they have not received any reports of this in Lincolnshire.
Gill Finn, community support officer, said: "Please rest assured that this is not being reported in Lincolnshire, although occasionally we do have the task of recovering one or two stolen pets."

The following tips have been recommended to ensure the security of dogs:
Microchip your pets as soon as you become the owner.
Keep up to date photos of your pet as they age.
Never leave your pet outside unattended.
Teach your dog to come to call, if you regularly walk them in large open spaces, so you can retrieve them quickly if you notice anyone taking an interest in your dog.
