A ROYAL Mail blunder has led to residents in Sibsey mistakenly receiving leaflets telling them they can put glass in their recycling waste bins.

The leaflets were sent out by Royal Mail on Boston Borough Council's behalf to all residents in the postcode areas covered by the authority.

The PE22 0 area includes Freiston and Butterwick which are in the borough and where residents can recycle their glass but also went to Sibsey which is in neighbouring East Lindsey Council where glass is not collected.

A Boston Borough Council spokesman said: "The problem in Sibsey is that at the moment glass cannot be put in recycling bins and any that is will contaminate the recycling collection.

"Residents in all areas of Boston Borough can put all glass into their blue recycling bin reducing the amount going to landfill."
