Lee Jackson has enjoyed a promising start to life with Buildbase BMW ahead of his debut season in the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship.

The reigning Superstock 600 champion has made the step up to the big bikes for 2013 as he bids to continue his meteoric rise in the sport.

The Skellingthorpe teenager insists this year, at least initially, will be a learning campaign.

But Jackson is happy with the progress he is making on the BMW and posted some impressive times during a test session in Almeria, Spain, last month.

"It was a BMW test and the GoldBet team from European Superstock Championship were there," explained Jackson (right).

"I got to within about a second of their times, which was pretty good as they're a lot more experienced than me.

"I want to thank my dad, mum, grandad and my uncle for sorting the Spanish trip out.

"I think I've adapted quite well from a 600 bike. After last season I didn't get on a bike for quite a few months, so I didn't really have much to compare it to.

"There are some long straights at Almeria, but I've also been testing at Mallory Park, which is a short circuit, so I've been able to get used to the aggressive power delivery of the BMW."

Jackson remains cautious about the new season, but hopes to be a regular points scorer over the second half of the 2013 campaign.

"This is a learning year for me," he insisted.

"I want to get to grips with the bike first and then, towards the end of the season, start scoring points on a regular basis and then break into the top ten."
